What is the difference from the "Cube of Life" ?
Cascade 5 differs fundamentally from so called «survival cube» (landing airbag); the name was given to it by rescuers. The device, named «survival cube» (landing airbag), was patented and manufactured in America in early 1990s. It was designed as an air- tight basic structure, like a box, having a 2.5х2.5 m square as a base and 1.5 m in height, and covered with fabric. The cube could stand the jumps from the heights not exceeding 6…8m.
The idea was further developed into similar devices of various dimensions in Russia and other countries at the end of 1990s and at the beginning of 2000s.
What is the main distinctive feature that makes the Cascade devices manufactured by SPE «RUSBAL» different from «survival cubes»?
The principal distinctive feature lies in the design of the basic structure: the basic structure of Cascade 5 is of a bigger diameter, which provides a safe landing even on the very edge of the device. The air-tight basic structures of a smaller diameter are unable to withstand an impact from a jumping person in case of landing on the very edge of it.
The basic structure is not fully air-tight and is constantly pressurized by a fan, which allows insignificant damage of the device when it is deployed in unprepared places.
The upper surface of Cascade5 is dome-shaped in the center, which reduces G-force from falling down. The fabric of devices by other manufacturers sags down under the gravity force, which reduces the deceleration track.
