Celebration at altitude: The 29th International Aeronautics Meeting in Velikiye Luki ends today

Every summer, Velikiye Luki turns into a real capital of the sky for a few days. Here, where an ancient fortress greets the dawn, and the Lovat River reflects the silhouettes of balloons, one of the most spectacular events in Russia is taking place — the International Meeting of Balloonists. This year's meeting was held for the 29th time, and it will definitely be remembered by both the participants and the audience.

This year, more than 50 balloons were floating in the sky above the city. The geography of the participants was impressive: pilots from different parts of Russia, as well as from Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Serious sports competitions were held during the meeting.:

- 4th Pskov Region Aeronautical Sports Championship
- The 30th Russian Aeronautical Sports Championship
- The 20th Cup of the city of Velikiye Luki

The balloon festival "City in the Palm of your Hand", which has become a bright event in the cultural life of the city, has ended in the city of Klin. For several days, residents and visitors of the city watched the flights of thermal balloons and had the opportunity to see the city of Klin from a height.

The event included:
1. Balloon Festival "City in the palm of your hand"
2. The Cup of the outstanding Russian balloonist Y.P. Taran – "The Star of Yuri Taran"
3. The cup "City in the palm of your hand"
4. The 8th Russian Aeronautical Sports Championship among Women
5. The 18th Moscow Region Aeronautical Sports Championship

The festival brought together teams from different regions who demonstrated their skills in controlling balloons. The program ended with the evening light show "Night glow of balloons", which gathered a large number of viewers and became a real decoration of the holiday.

The 4th "Flymonitor Cup" is an All-Russian aeronautical sports competition, the results of which will be included in the All-Russian rating. The current Russian pilots of the free thermal balloon are taking part.

The main prize of the competition is the golden burner "Phoenix-2" from the general sponsor of the Cup SPE "RUSBAL".

SPE RUSBAL has made changes to AT104.000.00 R "FLIGHT MANUAL".

Please note that this bulletin applies to AT104 series balloons, as well as their components, mass-produced by SPE RUSBAL, starting from 06/01/2013.

In April 2015, the unique thermal balloon "Gerbera" took to the sky – the first balloon of SPE RUSBAL with a volume of 5950 m3, the capacity of this balloon was up to 10 people, excluding the pilot.
It was with him that a new stage of SPE RUSBAL began - the creation of balloons of increased volume.
Today, in 2025, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this significant event.
The creation of Gerbera was an important step for the aeronautical industry. This balloon not only proved the ability to work with increased volumes, but also inspired us to further develop. After its appearance, even larger balloons were created, suitable for both record-breaking flights and for personal use.
Over the past decade, technology has advanced, and today thermal balloons ranging in volume from 5500 m3 to 10000 m3 are in operation. A special balloon of 12000 m3 was also manufactured to set a world record.
• 5500-7000 m3 is the standard volume for thermal balloons designed for 8-12 people.
• 8000-10000 m3 – balloons designed for flights of up to 20 people.
Interest in large thermal balloons has increased significantly. The projects aimed at setting Russian and world records by the Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov and the master of sports in aeronautical sports, pilot Ivan Menyailo, became vivid examples.
In 2017, F. Konyukhov and I. Menyailo set a world record for the longest flight on a 10000 m3 Binbank balloon created by SPE RUSBAL.
In March 2023, F. Konyukhov and I. Menyailo set a world record for the longest flight on a PhosAgro thermal balloon (volume 12000 m3, manufactured by SPE RUSBAL).
"Gerbera" has become a symbol of the creation and operation of large balloons. And who knows – perhaps in the coming years we will see balloons capable of crossing oceans or even going beyond the troposphere.

Yesterday, March 21, a seminar on flight technical operation and safety of free balloons was held in Moscow, organized
by the Russian Aeronautical Sports Federation.
The event was attended by specialists, pilots, representatives of aviation organizations and everyone who is interested in the development of aeronautics.
The seminar reviewed key aspects of the operation of free balloons, including modern requirements for maintenance, pilot training and
flight organization, raised the issue of obtaining a certificate of airworthiness for balloons with or without a type certificate, and provided
information on sports and festival events.
Special attention was paid to safety issues, the analysis of aviation accidents and measures to prevent them.
One of the main topics of discussion was changes in the regulatory framework related to aeronautics, as well as the introduction of new technologies
aimed at improving flight safety. The experts shared their practical experience, discussed current issues and suggested ways to solve them.
Representatives of SPE RUSBAL were among the experts.
The seminar was held in the format of live communication and exchange of experience, which allowed the participants to gain valuable
knowledge and recommendations.
Following the results of the event, further steps were outlined to improve the safety system and develop aeronautical sports in Russia.
Such events play an important role in the formation of a professional community, improving the level of pilot training and the introduction
of advanced technologies in the field of aeronautics.
The Russian Aeronautical Sports Federation will continue to implement educational programs aimed at improving
safety and popularizing this area of aviation.

AEROCONTROL LLC
Announced training programs for which the training will be conducted:
1) Training of free balloon pilots.
2) The training program for aircraft maintenance specialists.
AEROCONTROL will provide training using scientific, production and operational facilities
SPE RUSBAL is the only Russian manufacturer of balloons with a type certificate, which will give students the opportunity to
communicate directly with aircraft manufacturers and developers.
Experienced instructors and teachers with scientific degrees in various fields of science and who form the
backbone of the teaching staff at AEROCONTROL will bring competent, skilled specialists to the Russian sky who will be able to meet modern
challenges and who will undoubtedly continue the glorious traditions of Russian aeronautics.
The head of the center is the author of the desktop book of all Russian balloonists - "All about hot air balloons", General designer
most of the thermal balloons flying in the Russian sky are Alexander Talanov.
The training will be conducted full-time.

Theory: Moscow, Akademika Ilyushina str., 9
Practical training in Khotkovo at the production base of SPE RUSBAL
Flight practice in Dmitrov and Sergiev Posad districts.
If there is no weather for a long time, we will consider flight training in the Caucasian Mineral Waters or in the Crimea (when the skies open there).

The "Festival of Hearts" took place in Dmitrov!

It was an unforgettable day filled with joy and vivid emotions!

The event was attended by 16 balloons - aeronautical clubs from Dmitrov, Moscow,
Pereslavl-Zalessky, Veliky Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Belgorod.
Many guests came to be a part of this celebration.

SPE RUSBAL acted as an official partner and participated in a mass flight with its balloon.

The Armenian Cup was won by crews numbered 14 (Ivan Menyailo - Russia) and 18 (Emil Gilaev - Russia).

A festival in Armenia!

The international aeronautics festival Discover Armenia from the Sky will be held from October 12 to 16.
It is planned that about 20 teams will take part in the balloon carnival (among which we will see balloons
manufactured by RUSBAL).

The city of Yerevan, the Garni district and the Aparan reservoir are excellent places to fly, due to the presence
of wind currents in almost any direction.
During the festival, it is also planned to organize sports flights, the winners of which
will be awarded with special prizes!

We will follow the news and enjoy the beauty of Armenia.
